The Shorecrest Orchestras had a fantastic trip to The Music in the Parks Festival in Couer D’alene Idaho June 1-3.  They packed up the big yellow buses at the crack of dawn Friday June 1st and headed East of the mountains.

First stop on the adventure was Ellensburg, WA.  According to the students, this stop included the highlight of the trip, A clinic on the stage at Central Washington University with Dr. Nicolas Caoilie, Chairman of the music department and Conductor of Orchestras.  The concert hall made the orchestras sound better than ever, and Dr. Caoilie gave them some fantastic, specific feedback on their playing technique.

They arrived that evening in Coeur D’alene and checked in for the night.  Saturday morning they headed to the Music in Parks Festival to participate in the competition.  They placed second by only 3.5 points out of 200 total, earning a score of SUPERIOR, and a nice trophy to boot.

The rest of Saturday was playtime at Silverwood Amusement Park and some time for swimming at the hotel pool.

We’d like to wish all of the students a hearty congratulations on a job well done!
